Cocktails

I’ve never been much of a cocktail man; usually the closest I get is deciding whether I’m going to mix whisky or rum with my Coke. With the Canada Day weekend approaching, I thought it was the perfect opwatermelon smoothie-esque drink I created at home; the second is an adapted from a pineapple-mango mix tuted fresh mangoes with mango juice from the Martha Stewart recipe.

No-Name Watermelon Cocktails Ingredients: - ½ medium watermelon - 2-3 cups ice - Malibu coconut rum - 2 tbsp. honey Directions: Remove watermelon rind and cut into chunks. Blend until smooth and pour into a jug or other serving pieces, and add to the blended watermelon. Add two tablespoons honey (adjust to taste). Add one part Malibu per two parts watermelon mix and stir. Makes 8 generous servings.
Adapted Pineapple and Mango Rum Cocktails Ingredients: - 1 can (1.36L) pineapple juice - ½ L mango juice - Bacardi Gold rum Directions: Mix the pineapple and mango juice in a jug or other container. Add one part Bacardi for every two parts mixed juice, and stir. Makes 8 servings.
I mixed the drinks as my friends sat down, and we started with the watermelon cocktails. I found should be used sparingly to accentuate the sweetness of the drink. Popular opinion around the room was that the watermelon was too chunky and the seeds were aggravating; I attempted to strain one of the drinks, but to no avail.
