Ellarese Williams —
Human Resources Manager
Two years ago Cat Cay Yacht Club engaged Prevo Health to create a workplace wellness program for 80 full-time employees, all of which live on the two mile long island. The island has it’s own medical clinic which is staffed by one of 40 emergency physicians that donate their time in one-week increments to provide medical care to the members and the staff. The Clinic is funded exclusively by the members and managed by the Club.
The Clinic and the Club agreed it was important to provide the Bahamian employees, many of which suffer from one or more chronic illnesses including obesity and diabetes with longitudinal care where the focus was on prevention.
Elareese Williams (Reese), the Human Resources Manager since 2008, jumped in and has led the “Wellness Warriors” by example. Reese has not only lost over 120 pounds, she has inspired dozens of other staffers to walk the island at 6:00 AM, participate in cardio classes, eat heathier and participate in wellness activities.
Ellarese spearheaded a three-day health immersion which ultimately identified one of the employees with an AIC reading that was so high, it was a miracle she was still alive. We are proud to say Reese’s dedication and commitment, combined with the Club and Clinics support, Reese played a big part in saving someone’s life. We thank you Reese and congratulate you on achieving your personal goals.
Prevo Health continues to assist Reese Williams and her staff with health and fitness education, regular visits by Betsy Opyt, a Registered Dietician, Diabetes educator and fitness instructor.
