The Association for Learning Technology (ALT) states: ‘Learning technology is the broad range of communication, information and related technologies that can be used to support learning, teaching and assessment.’ (https://www.alt.ac.uk/)

Across College, people are using many new technologies. This is not exclusive to the classroom. Google+ is a great way to highlight what is going on in your department and Padlet walls encourage sharing of tips and hints with each other. Look out for sessions from James Kieft about the use of Google if you're not already set-up.

Why not try PowToon? PowToon is a great tool to use if you want to make animated videos. If you would like to try something new in your department to engage the students, introduce something at a team meeting, or advertise an event, this is definitely an easy technology to start with. Please sign up through their ‘4Edu’ package, as people working in the Education Sector get a free trial.

The PowToon tool has been used in the new online new staff induction, so keep an eye out for that. Also James Kieft thinks it is worth a look as he has included it in his technology blog!
