The Empowered ! Women in Education Conference , hosted each year during Women ’ s History Month , was hosted on March 15 at PHSC ’ s Instructional Performing Arts Center ( IPAC ) in Wesley Chapel .
The Women ’ s Conference Committee is accepting scholarship applications from current or prospective students for the fall 2024 semester . Applications must be submitted by April 30 , 2024 . Scan the QR Code for details . Stay tuned for Empowered ! 2025 , to be held in March 2025 .
President Pisors and District Board of Trustees Vice Chair Marilyn Pearson Adams welcomed the more than 125 guests in attendance at the annual free event . Keynote speaker Cameesha Whittaker , Ph . D ., senior vice president of Innovation and Design , Propel Center , provided a motivational address that outlined the challenges women face today and celebrated milestones . The Amici Trio , performing on flute , piano and oboe , presented a beautiful selection of compositions created by women composers .
Empowered Women in the Modern World , a panel discussion , featured Marilyn Pearson-Adams , DBOT vice chair ; Nicole Newlon , Esq ., DBOT ; June Hall , Ph . D ., educator and student leader Emmalise Feliciano . Porter Campus Provost , Davina Jones , Ph . D ., moderated the discussion , presenting specific questions relating to the panelists ’ experiences as women in education , business , law and real estate and as students .
Dr . Whittaker encourages the audience to be strong , forthright and kind to everyone in professional and personal relationships .
