“... IT ’ S ALL A GREAT LEARNING EXPERIENCE ”
The Workforce Development Center at Gowers Corner has been a project centered around the need to create skilled professionals in the Pasco and Hernando areas , enabling the expansion of PHSC ’ s Construction and Design Apprenticeship Program . The hands-on learning center began hosting classes in May of 2024 , covering almost two acres and includes an indoor classroom for concept and general knowledge discussions and an outdoor 9,600-squarefoot outdoor construction lab area with a 40 ’ x 40 ’ metal canopy allowing for all-weather sessions for skill training labs and class construction meetings .
“ The Pasco and Hernando region , right now , are among the top counties for growth in the United States , and all that growth comes down to increased residential construction . So , we ’ ve decided to focus on teaching our curriculum around that need ,” said Sean Kessler , instructor of Construction and Design courses for the Apprenticeship Program .
