Briana is grateful to have parents with professional jobs in higher education who could advise her “ on what steps to take and how to resolve issues on campus .” Briana adds , “ Dad is a certified counselor with a background in career services and provides guidance when I encounter career or personal concerns .”
In October of 2023 , Tim and Wendy will celebrate 37 years of marriage , strengthened by shared faith and nurtured by date nights and weekends spent together . Since Briana and Sierra left home for college , the couple spend more time together . However , Tim ’ s retirement is likely a transition to other faith and education-related projects , and Wendy still works full-time as a Career Pathways Coordinator for Hernando County Schools . She loves her job , but faith and family come first .
Wendy , Briana and Sierra view Tim as primarily a man of faith . “ My dad truly seeks to honor God ,” says Briana . “ He also loves to give , and I believe he continues to reap the blessings of his generous spirit .” Wendy feels “ blessed that Tim has been in a position to help so many people as president of PHSC and happy that the College was fortunate enough to have a man of faith as its president for nearly nine years .” Pastor Ricky Finklea , a friend for more than 20 years , concurs . “ Tim is one of the humblest men I know ,” says Finklea . “ His love for God and truth is unquestionable . … He easily forgives those who have done wrong towards him . … He has never been lifted up with pride or forgotten those less fortunate .”
Tim Beard remains “ in awe of the transformative power of education .” Reflecting on the past eight years , he says , “ Serving as PHSC ’ s president has been the crowning achievement of my career , but the time is right to pass the baton to a new leader .” His plans include playing the piano , authoring a book , playing golf and working with like-minded friends to help disadvantaged youth . One such friend , College and Pro Football Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks , shares Tim ’ s vision of a Success and Wellness Academy to provide holistic services for youth in Tampa Bay and Florida ’ s Panhandle . “ Congratulations to Dr . Beard on his great service as president of Pasco-Hernando State College ,” Brooks said . “ I am excited to be part of his continued efforts to help young men and women become confident , better educated and more accomplished .”
