In 2018 , Mary Ann Buel established the Ervin Hasse Memorial Endowed Scholarship in honor of her late father . At the age of 13 , Ervin ’ s father was killed in a coal mining accident , and he had to quit school so he could work to support himself and his mother . He educated himself at the small town library and went on to support his three children through college . His legacy continues to give PHSC students the opportunity to continue their education despite financial barriers thanks to the generosity of his daughter , Mary Ann .
Foundation Board Member Monica Mills accompanied Mary Ann Buel on a tour of West Campus last spring .
Students continue to benefit from the Next Step Endowed Scholarship thanks to the continued support of Sylvia Huhtanen . Since its inception in 2014 , this scholarship has provided a total of $ 29,750 to nearly 35 PHSC students .
The PHSC Foundation was one of 46 local nonprofits to recently receive funding through the Community Foundation Tampa Bay competitive grants process . The funding provided will support the College Reach Out Program ( CROP ) and other pre-collegiate programs inspiring brighter futures for underprivileged youth in Pasco and Hernando counties .
Community partner , North Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce proided a gift of over $ 12,200 with proceeds raised during their annual 5k Honor Run . Their support will provide financial assistance to veteran students at PHSC .
PHSC nursing students continue to receive financial support through the Janis L . Hill Scholarship , with funding provided by her family . Since its establishment in 2019 , this scholarship has assisted 11 students .
The Pasco County Sheriff ’ s Charities , Inc . recently made a generous gift to the Pathways to Student Success Scholars-President ’ s Fund for Excellence . Since 2018 , over 20 students have received support through this scholarship totaling $ 15,475 .
The Woman ’ s Club of Zephyrhills recently presented the Foundation with a generous donation to begin the establishment of an endowed scholarship in memory of longtime member Lola Lambert . The GFWC Woman ’ s Club of Zephyrhills Lola Lambert Memorial Scholarship will support students who demonstrate financial need and maintain a 3.2 or higher GPA . Lola Lambert served as Chair of the Scholarship Committee for many years , and her legacy will continue in supporting PHSC students for years to come .

Carrying on her husband ’ s legacy at PHSC , Kim Vierling made a generous contribution to the Dr . Donald and Kim Vierling Nursing Scholarship . Dr . Vierling , a local preventative medicine physician , served on the PHSC Foundation Board for nearly 40 years , providing his guidance and support to improve the lives of students . After his passing in 2020 , the Foundation Board voted unanimously to posthumously honor Dr . Vierling as a recognized Honorary Board Member .
Aspen Dental established an annual scholarship to financially support students enrolled in the dental hygiene program at PHSC . This scholarship will be awarded during the 2022-2023 academic year .
Alfred and Jeanette Boyer continue to invest in PHSC students through their generous gift to the Ken Boyer Memorial Scholarship . Since its inception in 2010 , 15 students have benefited from this scholarship fund .
In 1985 , the Brooksville Kiwanis Foundation made its first gift to the PHSC Foundation and has continued to support student scholarships for the past 37 years . Their most recent gift will support students through the Geraldine E . Bishop Second Chance Scholarship .
In memory of Richard Williams , Sr ., several friends and family members have made contributions in his honor to the Williams Family Educational Scholarship . Established in 2013 , this scholarship assists students who demonstrate financial need and are pursuing a degree in education , with a preference given to those who reside in Pasco County .
David Eisenberg , a continued supporter of PHSC and the technology and trade opportunities it provides in Hernando and Pasco counties , became the first donor to the PHSC Corporate College .
