Deputy Conor Schmelter Memorial Scholarship
PHSC alumnus , Conor Schmelter ( 1993-2021 ), was a dedicated deputy sheriff with the Pasco County Sheriff ’ s Office for five years until his passing in September 2021 . Born and raised in Pasco County , Conor made friends and found family at every stop in his life .
After graduating from Pasco High School in 2011 , he enrolled at PHSC , where he earned his Associate in Arts degree before pursuing his bachelor ’ s degree in management at Saint Leo University . Upon graduation , he could not resist the call to service that so many in his family had heard before him and shortly thereafter , Conor returned to PHSC to attend the Law Enforcement Academy .
In 2016 , he was hired as a deputy for the Pasco County Sheriff ’ s Office , where he took great honor in serving and protecting the citizens of his hometown . “ He loved his job serving the people of Pasco County and working with all of his brothers and sisters at the agency , especially the members of the STAR team ,” said Conor ’ s mom , Kristine .
A giving and loyal brother to his team members and friends , he believed in making the world a better place in any way he could . Through the Deputy Conor Schmelter Memorial Scholarship , his legacy will continue to make a difference in the lives of PHSC students pursuing a career in law enforcement .
