DUKE ENERGY ASSISTS STUDENTS IMPACTED BY PANDEMIC
Pasco-Hernando State College ’ s partnership
with Duke Energy since 2017 has resulted in contributions of $ 113,000 for students and programs . Duke Energy and the College ’ s mutual mission strengthens the partnership to provide additional student opportunities into high-demand engineering and design / drafting careers .
Duke Energy ’ s generous $ 85,000 scholarship contributions have assisted hundreds of students and provided eligibility for an additional $ 153,000 in matching funds . The philanthropic organization furthermore supports the SkillsUSA competitions where PHSC students compete locally , regionally and statewide in STEM projects .
SOS Fund has been a lifeline to students like Mayra Speare , “ The PHSC Foundation helped me when I needed it the most . Having a baby while still in college has been difficult . The financial assistance provided by the Foundation has kept me from giving up on my education ."
In 2021 , Duke Energy is sponsoring several virtual events highlighting diversity initiatives including the Martin Luther King Jr . Day speaker and Women ’ s Empowerment Conference . Please join us in thanking Duke Energy for supporting educational opportunities in our community .
Recently , Duke Energy provided a supplementary donation for the PHSC Foundation Support Our Students ( SOS ) Emergency Relief Fund . Financial support to the SOS Fund provides the PHSC Foundation with the ability to immediately assist students negatively impacted by COVID-19 . The
