A LOOK AHEAD

The Bobcats are eager and ready to get back to action this year after a 2020 season that ended abruptly due to COVID-19 and the shutdown of NJCAA sports nationwide . The fall 2020 season allowed only the Bobcat Cross Country team to compete . The other collegiate sports competitive seasons were delayed to the spring term . “ It was a very different fall season this year where teams were allowed to scrimmage , but the competitive season was put on hold . We are excited for the spring term competitive season to begin ,” said Steve Winterling , PHSC Athletic Director .
Men ’ s Basketball Head Coach Micheal Jones says he has a young , athletic-intelligent basketball team this season that shows a great desire to be competitive . “ All our athletes will be exciting to watch . However , there are three key athletes to keep your eye on this season : sophomore Hayden Green and freshmen Demarvion Brown and Jakeese Kemp . These three young men have demonstrated athletic and academic excellence this fall , and we expect more with the start of the competitive season ,” said Jones .
Women ’ s Volleyball The Bobcats are looking forward to their first ever competitive spring season — a change due to COVID-related activity . “ The change in competitive season has given us the opportunity to concentrate on preparation and training through the entire fall semester ,” said Deann Newton , Head Coach . “ Our top returning hitters are Brooke Sereda ( Outside Hitter ) and Seytia Hill ( Middle Blocker ), both from Weeki Wachee High School ,” said Newton . The 2021 Bobcat team includes a large freshman class of nine players who have added major strength and power to our team .

“ We are going to rely heavily on our returners this year to lead our team back to another World Series in Enid ( Oklahoma ). Their experiences last year as freshmen will only help our new players this year to get accustomed to the culture we are trying to build and maintain here at PHSC ,” said Lyndon Coleman , PHSC head baseball coach .
Women ’ s Softball The 2021 Bobcats are expected to be an exciting team to follow as their top two hitters from last year , Tierra Riley and Ashley Nickisher , return for a second season . “ They will be joined by 10 other returning players and 12 incoming freshmen ,” said Stephen Mumaw , Women ’ s Softball Head Coach . “ The women ’ s softball team is excited and ready to get back into action this year after last year ’ s season was cut ,” said Mumaw . The Bobcats open their spring season with a home game against Daytona State College in late January and then participate in the Florida Junior College Kickoff Classic in Clearwater the following weekend as they work to earn their way into the regional tournament in North Carolina .
Men ’ s Baseball Last year ’ s 2020 baseball team was on pace to break a number of school records including the team ’ s all-time wins record . It was a team that ended the season with the top four hit leaders in the nation , eight players that moved on to four-year schools and 11 graduates with AA degrees .
The Bobcats will return many key contributors this year , including four position players : Jermaine White , Jackson Ross , Diego Garcia and Matthew Coker that look to lead the Bobcats offensively . The Bobcats also return two front line pitchers who logged a number of key innings last year , Angel Caba and Hunter Booth .
