The Bradley Family has continued their
support of PHSC students through the
Pam Lampert Memorial Scholarship.
Since its establishment, this scholarship
has assisted five students totaling $3,000.
CenterState Bank recently established
a scholarship to assist PHSC nursing
students. Donating $5,000 in support of
the Nursing Scholarship Challenge, the
local banking establishment created the
CenterState Bank Nursing Scholarship
that will fund several nursing students to
achieve their degree.
PHSC has joined with Hillsborough
Community College and St. Petersburg
College in the LEAP College Access
Network Tampa Bay Partnerships.
In coordination with the Community
Foundation of Tampa Bay, students who
are pursuing degrees in Education and
Early Childhood Education, are PELLeligible,
and are on the FUSE pathway to
the University of South Florida (USF) are
eligible to receive $2,500 in scholarships
towards their degree at PHSC.
The President’s Institute Class of 2019
established the President’s Institute
Engaged in Service (PIES) Fund to assist
students with admission and graduation
fees. To date, the fund has received over
$1,300 in donations.
A gift from Dell Technologies was
provided to empower women seeking
careers in education through a full
scholarship to the Educator Preparatory
Institute (EPI). The $3,600 scholarship will
be awarded in fall 2020.
The Gonzalez Family has again funded
the Brooke Gonzalez Softball Fund
through a gift of $1,500. Created to honor
the memory of their daughter, a PHSC
softball player, the fund was established to
provide financial assistance to the PHSC
softball program.
Ken Hill and his family have established
the Janis L. Hill Scholarship in memory of
his wife of 43 years. Janis was a PHSC
nursing student who dedicated her life to
serving those most in need as a Hospice
nurse. The Janis L. Hill Scholarship will
support two RN students per semester
who demonstrate financial need.
The Iconic Group continues to support
Alumni Initiatives of PHSC through
charitable giving. During 2019, the
organization provided $1,154 in support
of PHSC alumni efforts. To date the Iconic
Group has donated $9,558 to alumni
funding at PHSC.
Psetas, Tetlow & Moore, P.A., an annual
supporter of the Foundation, was a sponsor
of the 2019-20 Performing Arts Series.
Since 2010, the organization has provided
nearly $15,000 in funding to the arts at
Pasco-Hernando State College.
The Florida College System Foundation
again invested in First Generation students
through the First Generation Matching
Grant Program. A total of $33,954 was
provided to match gifts made by Duke
Energy, Alfred and Jeanette Boyer, and
the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation.
The SunTrust Foundation provided a
$5,000 grant for student scholarships. The
funds were matched by the Roy T. and
Martha B. Hardy Endowed Scholarship
Fund and will administer scholarships for
Pasco County nursing students.
Andy and Molly Barnes generously
contributed $10,000 to the Lucy Morgan
First Generation in College Scholarship.
The fund was originally established by
the St. Petersburg Times in Morgan’s
honor. Mr. Barnes, a PHSC Foundation
Board Member, and his wife have annually
supported this scholarship which assists
students who are first in their families to
attend college.
The Rotary Club of New Port Richey
made a $2,000 donation toward the Frank
Parker Endowment Scholarship. Since its
first gift in 1979, the Rotary Club of New
Port Richey has generously donated over
$100,000 to the PHSC Foundation.
New donors, the Junior Service League
of Brooksville provided $2,000 to the SOS
Emergency Fund. Support was designated
to female students who were graduates of a
Hernando high school.
Carrying on his wife’s legacy, David
Thomson continued his investment in the
Janet G. Thomson Scholarship. Since its
inception in 2012, this scholarship has
assisted over 15 students totaling $8,850.
