ALUMNI NOTES 1986 1988 2001 2011 26 PHSC Ross Wolf, Ed.D, M.P.A., CHPP, Orlando, currently serves as the interim assistant provost of University of Central Florida Downtown. The new campus, in downtown Orlando, hosts over 7,700 students, nearly 200 full-time faculty, two UCF colleges with bachelor’s and master’s degrees offered in both the UCF Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) and the UCF College of Community Innovation and Education (CCIE) and two Ph.D. programs. In addition, Wolf is a tenured full professor of criminal justice in UCF’s CCIE. Wolf also has over 28 years of experience as a law enforcement officer. After graduating from PHSC, he earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies, a master’s degree in public administration and a doctorate in higher education administration and educational leadership from the University of Central Florida. Caryn Rummens, New Port Richey, received her Associate in Arts degree from Pasco-Hernando State College in 1988. Upon her graduation for the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree, she entered into a career as an elementary school teacher in Pasco County. After teaching several years, Caryn fulfilled a long-term goal and completed her Master of Arts degree in English in November 2019. She intends to take her passion for writing and literature into the college classroom as an English instructor. Joshua Peel, Zushi, Japan, continued his education after receiving his Associate in Arts at PHSC. Peel earned his master’s degree in Special Education from the University of South Florida and a master’s in Educational Leadership from Brigham Young University in 2015. He has been a special education teacher for the past eight years and currently works for the Department of Defense Education Activity in Japan. Cathrine Shoemaker, Land O’ Lakes, graduated from PHSC in 2011 with an Associate in Science in Nursing degree. Most recently, Shoemaker passed the AAPC’s Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification earning Magna Cum Laude distinction. In addition, she is currently pursuing her MBA and enjoys volunteering. Shoemaker is a certified Youth Worker for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and an active volunteer for Girl Scouts of West Central Florida.
