Courtney Dougherty, New Port Richey, received
her associate’s degree in nursing this past spring.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in Long Term
Care Administration from USF, she decided to
return to school to pursue her interest in nursing
and direct patient care. During her final semester at
PHSC, she applied all over the country for critical
care RN positions and interviewed with Mercy
Hospital Springfield in Missouri. Mercy Hospital
Springfield is an 886-bed Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center, treating
Courtney Dougherty with family at nursing pinning
patients from Missouri, Arkansas and Kansas. She received an offer
for a graduate RN position in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit
and accepted! She will be caring for open-heart surgery and trauma
overflow patients in addition to patients suspected of a heart attack
before and after surgery.
