What influenced your decision to attend PHSC?
PHSC had the right feel. The environment was just my size. I
met with Professor Jack Plant who was more accessible than
any person at my previous institution. Professor Plant was very
personable and the campus was laid out in a fashion that made
sense to me.
What are you studying?
I am pursuing two associate’s degrees simultaneously: an
Associate in Science in Drafting and Design Technology and an
Associate in Arts.
What is your fondest PHSC memory?
I have so many fond memories with PHSC including family
game night with Synergy Sociology Club, T.A.G. video game
competitions, root beer floats with the Human Services Club, pizza
night with Phi Theta Kappa, Student Life Retreat, Taco Tuesdays
and nine days in Italy! Find out more about your clubs at PHSC at
student-life.phsc.edu/clubs. My advice to any student would be to
get involved!
Is there someone at PHSC that you admire and why?
Without Professor Jack Plant, I would not have made the life
changing decision to attend PHSC. During my time studying,
he remained accessible and a great reservoir of knowledge and
advice. Even now, entered into the field of engineering, I lean on
Professor Plant for his keen wisdom and astute advice. PHSC
improved my quality of life which hinged on first meeting with him.
scholarship provided me with a sense of ease that afforded
me to tackle my course work with exceptional outcomes. As
well as peace of mind, the Foundation scholarship gave me
the confidence to return to school each semester knowing as
I continue to perform well, there will be entities supporting and
cheering me on the whole way. Finally, the Foundation scholarship
granted me joy and pride to share the knowledge PHSC, my soon
to be alma mater, has the resources to champion students in need.
What does the future hold for you?
I currently work at Coastal Design Consultants, a civil engineering
firm in New Port Richey. In December, I will graduate with both
of my associate’s degrees. Thanks to PHSC and philanthropists
who fund Foundation scholarships, my future is bright. I plan on
continuing in my engineering career for many years to come.
Why do you think philanthropy matters?
I do not think any individual is an island. I believe people achieve
great heights only with the help of others. I believe society
will continue to make positive strides only if those who are
accomplished continue to reach back to lend a hand.
Would you like to say anything to those who make
scholarship opportunities happen for the students
at PHSC?
Thank you. Thank you for not only having a heart large enough to
fit my aspirations, but also the various ambitions of all my peers at
PHSC. Know that you’ve affected many lives, especially mine in a
tremendously positive way. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
What did receiving this PHSC Foundation scholarship
mean to you?
Receiving a PHSC Foundation scholarship throughout my years
at PHSC has been instrumental. Above all else, the Foundation
