ATHLETICS UPDATE ATHLETICS UPDATE A Record-breaking Season Volleyball Region 8 Champs The women’s cross country team defended their state/regional title as National Junior College Athletic Association/Florida College System Activities Association (NJCAA/FCSAA) Region 8 Women’s Cross Country Champions. The three-time champions (2016, 2017, 2018) set a new school record with a 10 th place finish at the NJCAA D1 National Championship—the program’s highest ranking since finishing 13 th in 2011 and 2012. The team, alongside 38 other colleges in the race, battled cold temperatures, wind gusts up to 32 mph and rolling hills on the Buffalo Dunes Golf Course. The Bobcats wrapped up their season at the NJCAA Half Marathon Championship in Gulf Shores, Ala. on November 17 with a fourth place finish. Pasco-Hernando State College women’s volleyball team clinched the regular season Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA)/National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Sun-Lakes Conference with a 3-2 win at Lake Sumter College on October 17. The team went 9-0 in conference play. The Bobcat’s season ended in the NJCAA District P Championship finals in early November with a win over South Florida State College 3-0 in the semi-finals before losing in the finals to Lake Sumter State in a thrilling five-set match. The Bobcats finished with a 21-8 record and will return eight contributing freshman to the roster for the 2019-20 season.
