OAK HILL HOSPITAL
HSC’s community partner Oak Hill Hospital, originally
established in 1984, offers health care services to
Hernando and Citrus County residents. The institution
has grown to become the largest hospital and private employer
in Hernando County. Many Oak Hill employees are PHSC
alumni and its chief operating officer, Mickey Smith, is a past
member of the PHSC Foundation Board of Directors. Today,
the hospital offers health services including its Heart Institute,
Orthopaedic & Spine Institute, The Maternity Suites, Women’s
Imaging Center, and ExpressLab.
Recognizing their commitment to the community, Oak Hill
Hospital continually partners with PHSC Foundation to develop
future health care workers. Providing financial assistance,
including scholarship funding, the hospital has promoted
opportunities for nursing and health care students. During the
2017-18 academic year, Oak Hill Hospital will fund two PHSC
semester scholarships for fall and spring semesters designated
toward students pursuing nursing and health degrees.
HERNANDO HEALTHCARE FOUNDATION, INC.
T
he North Campus has continually received support
from their community collaboration with the Hernando
Healthcare Foundation, Inc. The organization’s
generosity provides PHSC North Campus EMS and Nursing
programs with innovative equipment and scholarship funding,
training future health care workers in Hernando County for
their prospective careers. This academic year, the organization
provided $77,500 to the PHSC Foundation designated toward
nursing lab equipment and scholarships for health care
students who are Hernando County residents. In addition to
their donation, the organization also agreed for over $28,000
of their funding to coordinate with the First Generation
Matching Grant Program and Florida College System
Foundation partnerships, contributing $56,000 in student
scholarship funding.
