Mentoring and Outreach
Annual fundraising events, including
the Strides for Education 5k Run/Walk,
assist in developing financial support
for the PHSC Take Stock in Children
(TSIC) program in Hernando County.
TSIC supports disadvantaged Hernando
County students who are academically
qualified but considered at-risk due to
socioeconomic issues. A public-private
partnership, the PHSC Foundation’s
annual objective is to raise $30,000
to be matched, dollar-for-dollar,
with state funds. These resources
provide prepaid tuition scholarships
to students who initiate the program
during middle school, graduate high
school, and successively enroll
at PHSC.
This flourishing program would be
unattainable without the generous
support of volunteer mentors and our
funding partners. Assistance from
organizations including Suncoast Credit
Union, Papa Joe’s Restaurant, Kiwanis
Club of Spring Hill, Kiwanis Club of the
Brooksville Ridge, Withlacoochee River
Electric Company, Capital City Bank,
and the Hernando County Sheriff’s
Charities allow the TSIC program to
provide these students an opportunity
to escape poverty through education.
For further information on supporting
the TSIC program through a donation
or mentorship opportunities, please

Multicultural Awareness at
