Pasco-Hernando State College Annual Report 2017 | Page 3
Dear Friends,
Pasco-Hernando State College
President
Timothy L. Beard, Ph.D.
Pasco-Hernando State College is experiencing a new energy—not
just on campus as students prepare for finals and enjoy the last
days before winter commencement, but within the community our
College serves. PHSC is gaining more attention than ever, through
marketing, community outreach, and extensive media coverage. We
are working even harder to ensure our amazing institution gets the
recognition it deserves so we can develop stronger enrollments and
achieve Gold status.
During the 2018-19 academic year, the College is celebrating another
successful year of new programs and innovative ideas which will
not only change the face of Pasco and Hernando counties, but the
state of Florida. With newly developed programs such as unmanned
vehicles systems operation in aviation, pharmacy technician and
surgical technology training, PHSC is on the cutting edge of driving
the workforce of the future. While increasing our choices for
students, we celebrate them, through College events like Peace
Week, Unity Day, and the One Nation celebration.
PHSC is gearing up for even more opportunities to increase
enrollment as the growth of our two counties continues. In Pasco
County alone, the State Road 54 corridor in Trinity/Odessa is
booming with multiple new communities bringing thousands of new
families to our area. Families with future PHSC students. Our goal
is to continue working closely with each county school district to
identify the needs of our future students and with the business
community to create stronger partnerships. The College and the
Foundation have worked tirelessly to better connect the community
to the goals and the very heart of PHSC.
The PHSC Foundation actively supports the mission of Pasco-
Hernando State College by annually investing $1.2 million in
supporting programs, library resources, faculty and staff
development and academic equipment. The Foundation proudly
awarded, for the first time, more than $1 million in scholarship
funding during the 2017-18 academic year toward nearly
1,000 students.
The future is even brighter with a new Instructional Performing
Arts Center being designed to offer our more artistically focused
students the chance to shine—be it through dance, theater,
painting or sculpture. We are proud to serve more than 48,000
graduates and grateful to our many donors and friends of the
College. PHSC is striving to make 2019 even more exciting and
forward-thinking than ever before and with our community support,
we will accomplish our goals. We look forward to the future and
hope you enjoy this 2019 calendar representing the College and
the Foundation.
The photos represent each of our five beautiful campuses, the
amazing students, and the faculty and staff who support our
students through education and creating special events which
enhance the College experience. From your friends at PHSC, have a
happy and successful new year.
Sincerely,
2018-19 District Board of Trustees
