4 . How many times have you been stung ? And what is the best way to treat a bee-sting ? I ’ ve been stung many times , although always when I ’ m away from my hives and don ’ t have my bee suit on , bees love coming into my house as there ’ s always lots of honey around . I usually put ice on the sting to ease the swelling .
5 . Was it your destiny to end up in Parys ? Explain your answer . Yes . My need to travel and move house stopped when I moved here , it felt like I had finally arrived home .
6 . If Parys were a flower , what would it be and why do you say so ? Definitely a Pride of India blossom . Over December and January , the town is flooded with their range of colours . For years I ’ ve asked who planted them and I finally heard a few months ago that it was a Mayor approximately 50 years ago . But , I also love the Sweet Thorn with its little yellow pom poms , it ’ s everywhere in the veld around Parys in December and January and makes the most delicious honey .
7 . Is there something we as humans can learn from bees ? Work for the good of all , but when you attack a threat , go big .
8 . As an English speaker who didn ’ t know too much Afrikaans when you moved to Parys , give us a few of your favourite Afrikaans words . Snoesig , skemer , wimpers .
