Partners Life was established in August
2010 by industry heavyweights Naomi
Ballantyne, Chris and Richard Coon.
We thought this was wrong. We decided
to change the game by doing the right
thing by all our customers.
The founding partners believed there was
a big gap in the market for an insurance
company to start doing things differently.
We like to take care of our customers
by recognising loyalty; we believe in
creating a true partnership.
We could see many companies designing
enticing incentives to attract new customers,
but nobody was doing anything to reward
customers over the long term.
Hence our name, Partners Life!
Naomi Ballantyne, Managing Director,
is one of the most well-known and respected executives
in the insurance industry today. With 30 years of industry
experience, two previous successful start-ups and an absolute
passion for doing the right thing, Naomi is instrumental in
ensuring the founder’s way of doing business with the utmost
integrity is the common language at Partners Life. You
may not also know that Naomi is an avid hockey and indoor
netball player and also plays the bass drum in a pipe-band!

Managing Director
Chris Coon’s name is synonymous with
the foundation of Sovereign and home equity
release company, Sentinel. As Chief Actuary,
Chris is continually thinking and innovating,
coming up with new, exciting and first to
market financial services products for
New Zealand families and businesses.
Richard Coon, Finance Director,
brings his experience as a qualified
accountant with a Harvard MBA
and his years at both Sovereign
and Sentinel to the table and in
his spare time raised a family
and renovated a classic launch.
When Chris isn’t analysing numbers he can be
found spending time with his four grandchildren.
Partners Life opened its doors
for business in April 2011 with
16 staff members and today,
one year later, there are over
90 of us!
