JONES FURNITURE: A FAMILY TRADITION FOR 60 YEARS
ntering Jones Furniture is a treat for
the senses.
You can smell the quality of the leather
in the sofas; you can feel the richness of the
material in the recliners; and you can see the
pride taken by the craftsman who sculpted
the dining room tables.
The former factory turned furniture
showroom is filled with the finest of home
furnishings, and people from across North
and South Carolina and beyond flock to the
showroom.
Why would someone drive 150 miles to buy a
couch? The answer is simple: tradition.
“This is where their mom and dad always
shopped, and sometime their grandparents,”
explained store manager Charles Skipper.
“We are on our third generation of clients.”
Owner John Paul Jones, a Cheraw native,
explained that his parents started Jones
Furniture 60 years ago, but there has been a
Jones in the furniture business in the area for
the past 80 years. “It’s a family tradition,” he
said.
Jones has something to offer in most price
ranges, but doesn’t try to compete with low-
end corporate box stores. They know that
if generations of families are going to keep
coming back, the product they sell must
be of the quality that is handed down from
generation to generation. For example, the

Skipper. Southern Lady has been making
mattresses for over 100 years, and people
come from all over the South to buy them at
Jones Furniture.
“We have good furniture, better furniture
and the best,” explained Skipper. “Being an
independent in the world of big box furniture
stores, we beat them on service.” The company offers American-made
products almost exclusively, showing their
patriotism.
For example, Jones delivers up to 200 miles
away and won’t just leave it in the driveway.
“We will deliver it, set it up and even take
out the old stuff, if that’s what the client
wants,” said Skipper. “And if they ever have
any problem with anything we sell, they call
us – not the manufacturer – and we made it
right.”
Jones also has several brands that are difficult
to find. Their laundry line is one of them.
“We sell Speed Queen washers and dryers
since they are the best. They are made in
Wisconsin and come with up to a seven year
full warranty,” said the store manager.
Another item that many buyers may not
even know exists anymore are Jones’ line of
mattresses, made by Southern Lady Mattress
Company out of Charleston, South Carolina.
“They are two sided like the old-fashioned

And if someone in your family needs extra
help getting around, or up and down, Jones
has what will soon be their favorite seat in the
house.
“We offer Ultra-Comfort lift recliners simply
because they are the most comfortable. So
many lift-chairs aren’t,” explained Skipper.
“It comes down to quality of life,” he added,
since many people who are using lift-chairs
or recliners probably are spending a lot of
time in them.
So whether you are in need of furnishings
for your home or your home-away-from-
home (the company furnishes many lake and
ocean-side vacation homes), Jones has what
you need. They also offer financing with up to
12 months of interest deferred.
The store is located at 1111 W. Greene St. in
Cheraw, South Carolina. And you will be
