HABITAT ON THE VERGE OF 50TH
HOME BUILD
H
abitat for Humanity of Scotland
County is a nonprofit organization
that works with the community to
build safe, decent, and affordable housing
for families in need.
Habitat also works to create safe housing
in existing homes through its Roof Repair
Ministry.
The Scotland County Habitat ReStore is
a nonprofit home improvement store and
donation center. The items sold are available
to the public and similar to what may be
seen in other home good stores, from
new cans of paint to hard to find vintage
treasures.
However, the Habitat ReStore is more than
just a resell store. Its purpose is to contribute
to the work of Habitat for Humanity of
Scotland County.
“When residents support the Habitat
ReStore by shopping, donating or
volunteering, they are supporting the local
Scotland County Community,” said Chris
of Scotland County
Carpenter, director of Scotland County
Habitat for Humanity
Scotland County Habitat for Humanity
needs the support of Scotland County
residents now more than ever.
It is an exciting time at the Habitat ReStore.
They are currently raising funds for the 50th
house build.
“We will start our next home in Laurinburg
in the summer of 2020,” said Carpenter.
“This will be the 50th house our affiliate has
built and we are raising $50,000 from the
local community to make this happen.”
The ReStore is the largest funding source for
Habitat house builds.
It has been a busy 18 months for Habitat for
Humanity of Scotland County. They have
completed two homes for new homeowners
and completed over 120 disaster repair
projects since Hurricane Florence.
“Business is up more than ever before and
your donations are needed to keep up with
our customers’ needs, said Carpenter. “We
encourage individuals to visit the ReStore to
find out more information about what the
ReStore has to offer and what our Habitat
Affiliate does to serve the Scotland County
Community.”
The Habitat for Humanity restore will also
be hosting DIY and Craft Classes every
month. Information about the classes can be
found on their Facebook page.
