Strengthening Communities Near and Far

From Hawaii to North Dakota to New York City , churches , synagogues , mosques , and temples of all shapes and sizes serve as both houses of worship and civic assets . Thanks to continued support from donors like you , Partners for Sacred Places ( Partners ) is proud to have developed and provided an ever-growing family of tools and services to strengthen and protect these important community assets , even in the face of growing challenges posed by diminishing memberships and resources .
The following pages highlight the impact Partners ’ programs have had on historic sacred places around America . Additional information about each of these programs , and more , can be found on our website : sacredplaces . org .
378 Sacred Places Received Direct Support from Partners for Sacred Places in 2019
Partners provided direct services to stewards of over 378 historic sacred places and judicatory bodies in 46 states in 2019 , as well as resources and inspiration to thousands more through our research and publications . We were also pleased to host a special guest from Sweden ( in connection with Nordic Churches ) and help spread our vision of sacred places as active centers of community across the world .
Thanks to Partners ’ study on the Economic Halo Effect of Sacred Places , we know the average urban congregation attracts 780 visits each week , and 89 % are for purposes other than worship . Millions of individuals benefited from the programs and events at the sacred places Partners served in 2019 , including children , seniors , the homeless and hungry , immigrants , ex-offenders , and others in need .
