Barbara Long was born Jan . 25 , 1938 , to Dorothy and Lucian Choate . Barbara and her sister , Mary were raised in the Choctaw , Oklahoma area . Lucian taught at a music studio , and later worked at the Venetian wine company , while Dorothy stayed home to raise the girls . Barbara was a good student and her teachers wanted her to do academic competitions .
When Barbara graduated from Choctaw High School she went to Oklahoma Baptist University for a year , before she married David “ Fred ” March June 14 , 1957 . Fred ’ s sister introduced them when Barbara was 18 and the couple were married a year later . Fred ’ s brothers told Fred and Barbara to move out to California with them . While in California Fred became a truck driver and continued that career for about 30 years before he retired . Barbara worked at the Boy Scouts of America Office , and worked there until she left to be a stay-at-home mother to her three children Shirlene , Chris , and Lisa . When Fred decided to retire , he and Barbara moved to Southwest Missouri , near Pomme de Terre Lake .
After Barbara ’ s husband , Fred , passed away in 2007 , she learned to find joy in being a single and independent woman . After a few years , Barbara ’ s neighbor introduced her to Jesse Long , who lived down the street from them . After courting for a while , Barbara and Jesse were married in September 2013 .
Over the years Barbara has enjoyed traveling , her favorite places include Yosemite National Park , Tennessee , and Key West , Florida . She used to love raising and keeping flowers , as well as playing piano . You can usually find Barbara in the dining room at Parkview playing the piano . Barbara loves making new friends and talking to people . Barbara came to Parkview in April 2021 , and when asked her favorite part of living here , she said , “ I like the people that take care of me , and the Administration . It ’ s a very good place to live .”
