What is your job at PV ? Director of Social Services How long have you worked at PVHCF ? I worked in Activities several years ago at PV , but then transferred to Colonial Springs to do Activities and then Social Services . I came back to Parkview in December 2020 ! What is your favorite thing about Parkview ? I love the residents and working with the leadership team . What is your favorite thing to do when you are not at work ? Spend time with my husband , Colin at our farm . What ’ s one more thing you want us to know ? I ’ m expecting our first baby ( boy ) in May !

Wanda Allen was born April 27 , 1928 , in Stockton , Missouri to B . T . and Eula Hacker . B . T . was a cattleman , and Eula stayed home to raise Wanda and her two brothers , Bob and Jack . When Wanda was two , her family moved to Bolivar . She loved growing up in Bolivar because it was full of activities to do with a skating rink , movies , dancing , and a swimming pool . After Wanda graduated from Bolivar High School , she attended Southwest Missouri State College . She graduated with a B . A . in Education , then Wanda moved to Germany to work for the United States government . While in Germany , Wanda met Ed “ Bud ” Allen , who was working for American Express . In 1955 , Wanda and Bud came to Bolivar to get married , because Wanda always dreamed of a wedding in Bolivar , and Bud ’ s family traveled from New York to be at the ceremony . Together Bud and Wanda had two children , Lindley and Ellis , five grandchildren , and three great-grandchildren .
Over the years , Wanda and Bud lived in Detroit , Baltimore , New York , and London . Bud worked for American Express which is why he was able to move around so much . Wanda was a homemaker , a substitute teacher and spent many years volunteering at CMH , but her favorite job was being a librarian for her children ’ s school while in London . Wanda loved living in London because the people were so “ charming and pleasant .” While in London and New York she had the luxury of enjoying the theatre ; her favorite shows that she saw live were The King and I , Chicago , she even saw Jimmy Stewart in Harvey . Wanda moved back to Bolivar in 1980 , after the death of her husband , because even though she loved London , Bolivar was always home .
Wanda enjoys reading mystery novels and any book her daughter recommends , knitting , watching television , and going to the theatre . You can always find Wanda with a book in hand , and she ’ s happy to give you some great recommendations . Wanda moved to Parkview Health Care Facility in December 2020 . When asked her favorite part about living here , she said , “ The people here are so friendly .”
