He was welcomed to the family by his parents, Drew and Dazel Boswell, and three older sisters. Billy was born at home and remained in the same house until moving to Parkview Healthcare Facility. Growing up the youngest and only boy in his immediate family, Billy enjoyed spending time with his family and cherishes those memories. After 36 years of operating the family grocery store, Billy’s father became ill. That was when Billy began running store. At first, Billy didn’t know how to run a grocery store. In order to learn, he approached the other grocery store in Brighton, and asked if they would mentor him. After nine years, billy sold the family business, in order to serve his country in the United States Army. Billy served for two years in Korea. Upon the completion of his tour, he returned home and began working at Zenith in Springfield, Mo., where he remained for 28 years until his retirement, serving as an inspector. What is your job at PV? Occupational Therapy How long have you worked at PVHCF? 11 years for CMH. 6 years year at Parkview What is your favorite thing about Parkview? The people I work with. From the top to the bottom this is a great place to work. What is your favorite thing to do when you are not at work? I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids. I have 5 kids (3 girls and 2 boys). We go on hikes and spend time outdoors. I also enjoy going to the gym to workout. Along with working at Zenith, Billy also worked on his farm, where at one point, he had over 100 head of cattle. “I would get up at 4 a.m. to feed the cows. I would then then work from 6 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. I would then return home and do chores for another four hours,” Billy explained. “It was usually 7 p.m. before I was finished with my chores.” Although it was hard, Billy enjoyed working with his cattle. “I still have a few on my farm that his nephew cares for.” Billy moved into Parkview in March of 2015 after having both of his legs amputated due to circulation problems. His favorite thing about living at Parkview is all of the friendly people. “Parkview is the friendliest place I have ever been,” Billy said with a smile. “They take really good care of me.” Congratulations Billy on being chosen as the Parkview Healthcare Facility’s Resident of the Month for October.
