Meet Delores Etheridge, Resident of the Month Delores Etheridge was born Aug. 1, 1934, to Ralph and Edith Noble in St. Paul, Mo. Delores’ fa- ther, Ralph, worked as a tire man for Firestone for many years. While he worked, her mother, Edith stayed home to raise Delores and her three siblings; Ronny, Sharon, and Royce. During World War II Delores’ family moved to Fres- no, Calif. Delores later lived in Seattle, Wash. and then went to Bob Jones University in South Carolina, where she met her husband, David Etheridge. Once the couple were married they moved back to Missouri because it was a safer place to live. Delores worked a few jobs throughout her life including child care, cleaning houses, a Department store, and then once she moved back to Missouri, she worked at the Senior Health Center in Bolivar. She also enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Bible School alongside her husband. During Delores’ year at Bob Jones University, she met David while eating break- fast together. The couple dated for nine years and then were married on June 10, 1965. They were happily married for almost 68 years. David went to seminary and worked as a part time Pastor. One of her favorite memories was the time her and David were able to go to Minnesota to swim and see the beautiful lakes. “Everything was so beautiful, but the mosquitoes were huge!” said Delores. The couple had one child, Bryan. Delores has one thirteen year old granddaughter named Laurin. Growing up, Delores enjoyed playing games with her neighborhood friends includ- ing football, basketball, and roller skating. As she got older she was the overseer of the family, as she was the oldest of her siblings. Like her mother, Delores also en- joyed caring for children. Currently her favorite activities include knitting, relaxing, and gardening. Delores came to Parkview in Sept. 2018. When asked her favorite part of living here, she said, “It is a nice, safe, place to stay” and that she really enjoys her time at Parkview. Congratulations, Delores, on being chosen as the Parkview Health Care Facility’s Resident of the Month! Are you a caring individual who would like to assist in caring for the elderly?
