I enjoy crocheting, knitting,
reading, gardening, and canning. I also enjoy spending
time with my two kids.

Meet Edna Lyon, Resident of the Month
Edna Lyon was born April 23, 1929, in Chula, Mo., to
parents, Virgil and Flossie. Edna grew up on a farm in
the country near Nettleton, Mo., where her parents
worked with cattle and chickens. Edna grew up with her
siblings Dorothy, Harold, Buel, Marjorie, and Rosalie.
Edna was the baby of the family.
Edna’s childhood consisted of playing ball games like
baseball with her siblings. Every Saturday the family
would go to Chillicothe, Mo., to get groceries. An unfortunate part of her childhood was she would get headaches constantly in school and it was something that
was hard to deal with. Luckily, after she finished school
her headaches started getting better. When Edna was
18 years old she worked as a waitress at a the City Café for five years and later owned
the Café for a year.
A special moment in her childhood was when her mother made her and a friend
matching yellow dresses. They would always try to wear the dresses on the same day.
Edna also enjoyed playing softball during her school years.
Edna met her husband Richard at a dance south of Hermitage. The couple was married for 20 years before he passed. Edna has four children, Sharon, Patsy, Lynn, and
Eddy from a former marriage. She has four grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Besides working as a waitress in her teens, Edna also worked as a housekeeper and
at the courthouse with the tax collector for about 15 years. She was able to stay at
home when her children were young.
Throughout the years, Edna’s family would always get together for Christmas and July
4th. On July 4th, the family would always shoot off fireworks and have a barbeque. As a
mother, she enjoyed shopping for whatever the kids needed. She also enjoyed watching her children play basketball and participate in cheerleading. One year Edna and
Richard went on a big vacation to Florida where they had a really fun time seeing the
ocean and spending time with family.
One of Edna’s hobbies is reading and she enjoys all kinds of books. She especially
likes love stories and westerns. Her favorite colors are pink, yellow and blue. Edna
loves people and tries to speak to everyone she meets at Parkview. Edna has been at
Parkview for three months and likes just about everything about it! Congratulations,
Edna for being Parkview Health Care Facility Resident of the Month!
