Meet Jack Burrell, Resident of the Month
Jack Burrell was born Oct. 12, 1934, on
Pine Street in Bolivar, Mo. Jack was the only
child of Wesley and Audwene Burrell. His fa-
ther, Wesley, did a little bit of everything for a
living, including cutting meat and driving a
fuel truck for Phillips 66. His mother worked
at the Shady Nook Café in Humansville.
Jack grew up in Humansville and enjoyed
being active in many ways. He loved to trap,
fish, and hunt for Indian artifacts. He also
enjoyed playing softball, baseball, basketball,
and hanging out with his friends.
Jack and Twila first saw each other in
Weaubleau. Jack saw her from across the
street, but was too nervous to go talk to her.
A bit later, Twila sent Jack a letter in the mail
inviting him to come and see her and her
family. Jack went to meet her and it was love. The couple married on April 8,
1961, in their preacher’s home.
Jack and Twila have one son named Jack. The couple have one grandson,
and one great grandson. “Throughout the years, we spent a lot of time at base-
ball games watching our son and grandson play,” said jack. The couple also en-
joyed fishing, rock collecting, and searching for Indian Artifacts.
“I had a 1959 Plymouth that I enjoyed racing,” said Jack. One day he and
Twila were out racing with baby Jack in the backseat. Twila turned around and
Jack was gone! They couple were afraid that he had fell out of the window. Then
they looked down and he was on the floor in the back of the car laughing! Jack
and Twila were so scared that they never went racing again!
Jack and Twila moved to Bolivar after retirement and have lived here for 18
years. Jack moved into Parkview Health Care in December 2017. While here at
Parkview, Jack enjoys playing bingo, balloon ball, and gardening.
Congratulations Jack on being chosen as the Parkview Health Care Facility
Resident of the month!
