hay, plowing fields, and milking cows. In our
spare time we enjoyed fishing at the creek
and hunting possum and skunk for their furs.”
Joe served in the Army from 1944 – 1947. Upon his return home, Joe’s
cousin asked if he would join him on a double-date. That is when Joe met his future wife, Inice May. They picked him up in a model A-Roadster Coup and the two
couples enjoyed dinner and a movie.
Joe and Inice May were married in 1948 in a small ceremony by the Justice
of the Peace, with her brother and sister-in-law standing up for them. The couple
were bless with four children, two boys and two girls. Joe and Inice May continued
the family tradition by working side-by-side on the family farm.
Joe has always loved the outdoors. For many years, he spent his free time
