A chat with:
Meet June Rymes, Resident of the Month
Wendy Heymer
What is your job at
PV?
CNA & RMT
How long have you
worked at PVHCF?
22 Years
What is your favor-
ite thing about
Parkview?
My residents!
What is your favorite
thing to do when
you are not at work?
I love spending time
with my family. We
enjoy going to the
lake and relaxing at
home. I have two
girls and two boys
ranging from 8-19
years old. My first
grandbaby is due in
July!
June Rymes was born June 28, 1925, in Ana-
heim, California to Bernice and Frank Mont-
gomery. Frank worked at Standard Oil Com-
pany, while Bernice stayed home and raised
June. June’s parents were also singers in high
demand. When June was ten years old, she
lost her father. She and her mother grew ex-
tremely close. June was raised in Anaheim
and Pasadena, and was out of school a lot
due to medical illnesses. However, the ever
resilient June graduated high school at age 16
and quickly went on to secretary school at
Pasadena Junior College.
June started working as a secretary at age 18.
She worked with the Navy Enlistment Board
during World War II. After the war, June
moved to Long Beach, found a church in the
area to attend, and grew close to a woman
named Marguerite, the organist at the
church. One day while June was sitting in the church, a young man named Ivan
Rymes came into the church to pick up his mother, Marguerite. Ivan saw June
and he believed it was love at first sight, but June was more hesitant. After a
sweet and romantic courtship June and Ivan were married on July 8, 1949. June
had written a poem that Ivan put to music, which was sung at their wedding.
Together, Ivan and June had three children Suzi, Martin, and Stan, as well as
eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Through the years, as Ivan pas-
tored, the family moved to interesting places in America, as well as a summer in
Scotland. June spoke at and organized regional conferences.
Through the years, June enjoyed opportunities to travel to the Soviet Union, Is-
rael, Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. She also enjoyed reading,
gardening and music.
June came to Parkview in May 2019, and loves the people that she sees every
day.
Congratulations, June, for being chosen as Parkview Healthcare Facility’s Resi-
dent of the Month!
