M e e t E un ic e H a fe r, Re s i d e n t o f t h e M o n t h Eunice Hafer was born May 24, 1928, to Harry and Lillian Wynn, in Kansas City, Mis- souri. Harry worked as a rock miner, and he crushed rocks to make into gravel, while Lillian stayed at home and raised Eunice and her ten siblings. Eunice grew up in the Kansas City area until her family moved to Lawson, Missouri during her first year of high school. Eunice attended Lawson High School for three years. During her senior year, Eunice attended school in Excelsi- or Springs to become a nurse’s aide. Eunice met her husband, Homer Hafer, while she was visiting her brother in Nebraska. During their courtship, he would come visit her at the hospital she worked at. Eunice and Homer were married on Oct. 19, 1946, in Nebraska. Together, Eunice and Homer had seven children, Bonnie, Connie, David, Jean, Jeanette, Judy, and Nancy; as well as 19 grandchildren, and too many great-grandchildren to count. Homer worked in the Army with ammunition. Eunice was a house-maker and raised their children; later in life she worked as a caregiver at West Central In Home Care. Eunice and Homer owned acreage in Nebraska and had cows, chickens, and pigs. Eunice was not happy about those pigs. Eunice loved spending time with her family and went on countless adventures throughout New Mexico, where they lived for a while. Throughout her life, Eunice has enjoyed sewing, quilting, painting, and cooking. She loved trying new recipes and making dresses for her daughters. Eunice came to Parkview in April 2019. When asked her favorite part of living here, she said, “all the activities that go on here, and the nurses’ aides. They are so helpful.” Congratulations, Eunice, on being chosen as the Parkview Healthcare Facility’s Resident of the Month!
