Meet Lloyd Swanigan, Resident of the Month Lloyd Swanigan was born Aug. 15, 1940, in Selt, Mo. Lloyd’s father, Edgar, owned a sawmill and ran a family cattle farm. While his father worked, his mother, Alice, stayed home to work on the farm and raise Lloyd and his siblings Raymond, Bonnie, Donald, Freemond, Virginia, Virgil, and Shirley. Lloyd’s family grew up in Selt, a small town in the country, and he and his siblings went to school in Tunas. When they weren’t in school or working at the sawmill, they worked hard on the family farm. Lloyd worked a lot of jobs as he got older, including driving a school bus, working at a propane company, and owning his own milk hauling company. In his adult years, Lloyd met his soon to be wife, Loretta, at a street fair in Wheatland, Mo. “I saw her and liked her and wanted to keep her around,” said Lloyd. The couple were married on March 17, 2000 in Arkansas. Lloyd has three sons, Stacey, Casey, and Jason. Through them, he has also been blessed with four grandchildren. Growing up, Lloyd enjoyed working hard, swimming, playing basketball, and “doing what country boys do.” As he got older he enjoyed learning more about his work at the sawmill and becoming stronger and a well-rounded worker. Currently his favorite activities are spending time with Loretta and watching Andy Griffith and shows about Alaska. Lloyd came to Parkview in July 2018. When asked his favorite part of living here, he said he enjoys the great food and the caring staff. Congratulations, Lloyd, on being chosen as the Parkview Health Care Facility’s Resident of the Month! Are you a caring individual who would like to assist in caring for the elderly?
