Meet Frances Redman, Resident of the Month
Meet: Jenny Slack
Staff of the Month
What is your job at PV?
C.N.A.
How long have you worked
at PVHCF?
2 years in April.
What is your favorite thing
about Parkview?
I love the residents! I love
to help them and hear their
stories. They make me
laugh everyday!
What is your favorite thing
to do when you are not at
work?
I love to spend time with my
family. I have 2 boys and 2
girls. I also love to read,
hunt, camp, and fish.
Frances Redman was born on Oct. 10, 1924, in
Aldrich Mo., to Henry and Anna Shara Tygarrt. Frances had two sisters and three brothers and grew up
on a 90-acre farm, where they raised chickens, goats
and pigs. They also harvested corn and wheat. Some
of Frances’ fondest childhood memories involved going out in the fields and picking corn or helping to
stack wheat for the thrasher. She also enjoyed spending time canning with her mother.
In search of a better life, Frances, 14, and her
family moved to California. While there, the family
attended a Missouri-themed picnic where trees were
displayed and labeled by counties. Frances and her
family located the Polk County tree and wrote their
names on it. At the picnic, Frances met Louis Earl Redman who was from Aldrich and
had moved to California because of the Air Force. Just after meeting, Earl was deployed overseas.
Three years later, Earl returned to Missouri after deployment. Frances, excited to
be reunited with Earl, took a train from California and to Missouri. In 1945, Frances
and Earl were married in a simple ceremony in Aldrich, Mo. After the couple married,
they returned to California where Earl worked on the Air Force Base and Frances
worked packing oranges.
It wasn’t long before the couple packed their bags and move to St Louis, where Earl
owned and operated a plumbing and electric business. The family remained in St.
Louis for 15 years until Earl came home from work and asked if she was ready to
move back to California. The house was sold and the couple moved to Rialto, Calif.
While in Rialto, Earl worked maintenance at the county hospital in San Bernardino.
Frances worked at a local Farmers Market selling fruit and vegetables. The two settled
Yucipa, Calif.,
surrounded by fruit trees and asparagus beads. It wasn’t long before Missouri beckoned the couple, and off they went to Bolivar, Mo. Earl passed away in 2012.
The couple adopted two children; Carol when she was 14 months and Joe when
he was 5 months old. Carol currently lives in Yucipa, Calif., with her family and Joe
lives in White Hall, Mont., with his family. Frances has six grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Frances has always enjoyed crocheting and quilt making.
Due to a stroke she is unable to do any sewing now, but she does enjoy watching
Days of Our Lives on television.
Frances moved into Parkview Healthcare Facility in August 2014. She enjoys the
people at Parkview because everyone is friendly and nice. She is enjoying making so
many new friends. Congratulations, Frances, on being chosen as the Parkview Healthcare Facility Resident of the Month!
