within and external to Metro Parks and Recreation, and/or in-house analyses of
environmental management.
E. To identify additional research needs essential to Metro Parks and Recreation
understanding, quantifying, and properly managing natural resources, including historical
plant communities studies and fire regime analyses.
By completing these objectives, this natural resource plan will consolidate into one
document past analyses and plans constructed for these natural areas. In addition, a natural
resource plan allows for Metro Parks and Recreation to set benchmarks on the success of
preservation, conservation, and management of natural areas. Ultimately, this natural resource
plan is a dynamic document that can be changed as more land is acquired or more knowledge is
gained about the scientific and management practices used to conserve natural areas.
