Updates 2015 from Original 2007 Document Developed by Jessica McCarty, Consultant,
and the Metro Parks and Recreation Staff
Jefferson Memorial Forest through several land acquisitions has grown to 6,634 acres.
Management of Otter Creek Park in Meade County was transferred to the Kentucky
Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources in 2010.
Miles Park, Floyd’s Fork Park, and the Tyler-Schooling property management has been
transferred to 21 st Century Parks and incorporated into the Parklands of Floyd’s Fork.
Additional Parks have been incorporated into this document as Natural Resource
Parks/Areas including: Butchertown Greenway, Chickasaw Park, Clifton Heights
Greenway, Fairmount Falls, Peterson Property, Shawnee Park, and Thurman Hutchins
Park.
Additions have been made to “Table 6. Invasive plant species and potential management
strategies in the Jefferson County region.”
For all the parks, all maps have been updated to reflect current vegetation cover and
management plans for all parks have been updated to reflect current standards and goals.
