Horseback Riding
1995 Provision
• A riding stable and associated bridle paths at Iroquois Park and a stable at McNeely Park
were privately operated under concession agreements with the LMPRD.
• Horseback riding was also permitted on designated trails in the Jefferson Memorial
Forest, Otter Creek Park, Iroquois Park, McNeely Lake Park, Cherokee Park, and Seneca
Park.
1995 Distribution
• In 1995 public horseback riding stable facilities and trails were located in central
Louisville (Iroquois, Cherokee, Seneca) and southern Jefferson County (McNeely Lake
Park and Jefferson Memorial Forest). Eastern Jefferson County lacked public riding
facilities or trails. Otter Creek was located in Meade County although many equestrians
from Louisville used those trails.
