practice, neither of which are currently publicly provided in Jefferson County, should be considered in any future development of golf facilities on public land. 2016 Status • LMPRD manages three 9-hole and six 18-hole golf courses. A total of 227,994 rounds were played on these courses in 2015. • The 27-hole Quail Chase course at McNeely Park is operated privately but is open for public to play. • There are a number of private courses at country clubs throughout Louisville. • A new sport, Footgolf, combines elements of golf and soccer and shows promise as an additional sport that can be played on golf courses. Footgolf at Bobby Nichols Golf Course • See Figure A.9 in Appendix A for distribution. Horseback Riding 1995 Provision • A riding stable and associated bridle paths at Iroquois Park and a stable at McNeely Park were privately operated under concession agreements with the LMPRD. • Horseback riding was also permitted on designated trails in the Jefferson Memorial Forest, Otter Creek Park, Iroquois Park, McNeely Lake Park, Cherokee Park, and Seneca Park. 1995 Distribution • In 1995 public horseback riding stable facilities and trails were located in central Louisville (Iroquois, Cherokee, Seneca) and southern Jefferson County (McNeely Lake Park and Jefferson Memorial Forest). Eastern Jefferson County lacked public riding facilities or trails. Otter Creek was located in Meade County although many equestrians from Louisville used those trails.
