Research Participation Later in Your Parkinson’s Course While some clinical trials and studies need people early in their disease course, many need people who were diagnosed with Parkinson’s some time ago. Individuals with moderate or advancing Parkinson’s — including those who have had surgical procedures to treat the disease — may be eligible for a variety of interventional and observational trials. Remember fact 2: There Is a Study (or Several) for You. However, participation at a later stage of disease may require more assistance from loved ones and care partners. Speak to your doctor and support network about which studies may be right and appropriate for you. Chapter 2 — Research Participation throughout Your Parkinson’s Journey 23
