What to Consider
before Genetic
Testing
The results of genetic testing can affect
different aspects of your and your family’s
life. So the decision to seek genetic testing
on your own or to participate in research
that includes genetic testing deserves
extra attention. Remember that not all
research studies disclose your results,
and in some cases you can choose not
to learn your results. Genetic counselors
can talk you through what it means to
participate in genetic testing and specific
considerations surrounding employment,
insurance, family and cost.
