meeting victims and individuals from the community,
along with children going through the Child Protective
Services system.
“East has better enabled us to provide for the victims
of Parker County, both children and women, to open
their ability to better express themselves in a difficult
time,” County Attorney John Forrest, Jr. said. “East gives
them comfort for them to be brave and is a Pilot Program
that every county is going to adopt in the future.”
“East has also been to Commissioner’s Court helping
bring awareness to the county Tree of Angel commemo-
ration or Crime Victims’ Rights Week, or Child Abuse
Awareness--the list is long. Not one single time has
anyone backed away from or been put off by East. She is
always a calming and loving presence,” Merhoff contin-
ued. Merhoff is so grateful with how Parker County has
embraced East so far.
“Dr. Stacy McLeod at North Texas Veterinary Hospital
called and told us they wanted to be a part of this impor-
tant endeavor to further services to victims, and they take
care of all East’s medical maintenance – vaccinations,
monthly heartworm preventive, etc. East is monitored to John Cornyn and Lisa

maintain her weight, and when dry skin seemed to be
an issue for East, Dr. McLeod spoke to her Royal Canine
dog food representative, and they began supplying their
specialty food for Labs with dry skin at absolutely no
charge,” she said.
County Judge
Merhoff considers East to be Parker County’s new
Pat Deen
mascot. We have to agree.
