selves and their families.  One of the hires made by the Hobson companies is Daniel “Doc” Jacobs. He helps with recruiting other veterans and telling them about the benefits of pursuing a trade education at the Perfect Technician Academy. Jacobs is a Navy veteran who was wounded during a deployment in Ramadi, Iraq, in 2005. His gun truck was struck by an I.E.D. and Jacobs lost his left leg below the knee, three toes from his right foot, and three partial fingers from his left hand. He didn’t let his injury stop him; after two years he returned to the Fleet Marine Force and was the first ever to be assigned to an infantry unit. Post injury, he has run 17 marathons and tried out for three different major league baseball teams. His foundation funds sports scholarships for children of military and veteran families to make the sports dreams of others come true.  Part of their pledge for hiring veterans reads: “We appreciate the values, lead- ership and unique skills service members bring to the workforce and will encourage opportunities to employ Guardsmen, Reservists, transitioning Service members and Veterans. We will continually recognize and support our country’s Service members and their families in peace, in crisis, and in war.”  Hobson has gone above and beyond that pledge in their hiring of local veterans. The signing ceremony was held last month in Washington DC at the Pentagon.
