PARKER COUNTY AG Gavin Prellwitz WEATHERFORD CHRISTIAN SCHOOL STUDENT G avin Prellwitz, a sixth grader at Weatherford Christian School, has been showing animals for six years. His showing journey started when his dad wanted to give something other than sports a try. After that, they went out and bought his first goat. His first show was the Peaster FFA show in 2012, and has he has been showing ever since, moving from goats and lambs, to steers and heifers. He loves showing because he gets to bond with the animals, meet new people, and the overall excitement of entering the arena. “It’s the animals time to shine and my job to show them to the best of my ability.” Gavin said. He also believes that showing has taught him responsibility, respect and maturity. His biggest inspirations have been his Lord and Savior, and his dad. His awards over his short showing career include the British Champion, First Overall Prospect Steer and Reserve Grand Champion Overall. The twelve-year-old is also an athlete, and participates in football, basketball, baseball and track at WCS. When he grows up, he would like to be a wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys or an attorney.
