Jamie Bodiford Benevolent Powerhouse Award — ­ Kate Hogan A native of Colorado, Kate Hogan moved to Parker County after earning her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Merchandising and Textiles from the University of Wyoming. Hogan was drawn to Parker County because she wanted to work in the Western apparel industry. “That meant moving to Texas three years ago,” Hogan said. After working in the industry for a time, Hudson decided the Western Apparel business wasn’t a good fit for her; she turned to real estate, working as a real- tor’s assistant with plans to learn the business and gradually working into it. “I got a job as Leah Kenyon’s assistant,” Hogan said. “Leah wanted to build a great real estate team.” Kenyon became Hogan’s best friend. “We spent 12 hours a day together and we had almost every meal together,” Hogan said, adding that she was defi- nitely learning the real estate ropes from her boss. That all ended in March of 2016, when Leah Kenyon died in a tragic car accident. “We’d had a 82
