as a photographer by photographing her husband who
was showing cutting horses,
cutting with Chubby Turner.
“He was my muse,” said
Steege. “Then I started looking around and actually there
were more interesting things
going on than the actual cutting. So I got more interested
in the western lifestyle — the
ranching, the rodeos, the
buckaroos, the cowgirls, who
are a big part of what I do.”
Steege is a docent at the National Cowgirl Museum and
Hall of Fame in Fort Worth.
