teacher while I work towards my master’s degree, ultimately working towards opening my own counseling practice,” she said.  For Kenzie, the spring of 2017 is the final step of a 13-year journey in Weatherford ISD schools. When asked to comment on her time in WISD and Parker County as a whole, Kenzie said, “I really will miss it ... Parker County is somewhere that you can always find your way around. The chapter of my life of knowing what street I’m on practically with my eyes closed is coming to an end, and it’s sad to see that go; I’ll miss this close-knit community feeling.” Salutatorian: Sophia Pasternak Parents: Cliff and Angie King GPA-4.8881 Despite only going to school in Weatherford ISD for the past seven years, Sophia Pasternak has become firmly rooted in Parker County’s rich history and culture. With her high GPA, Sophia has excelled in her academics at Weatherford High School. Her determi- nation and commitment to her school is what has pushed her to be the best she can be at everything she does. She is the captain of the Weatherford Blue Belles, the senior class president, the vice president of the National Honor Society, a member of the student council, a member of the Outreach Club, a member of the youth group at Northside Baptist Church, a member of the Service and Leadership team for the youth group, and a volunteer at Manna Storehouse. Sophia plans to attend Southern Methodist University this fall with a major in biochemistry and a minor in psychology on the pre-health track. After completing her undergrad work, Sophia plans to go to medical school to become a specialized pedi- atric doctor. Her life goal is to travel abroad in order to improve health- care in impoverished countries.  Of course until she ships off to college this fall, she will treasure the time she still has in Parker County. When asked what her favorite thing about Parker County, Sophia said that, “Parker County is rich in tradi- tions that build a sense of cohe- siveness amongst its community members. I love the familiarity that fills the air and makes everyone feel welcome.” While Sophia heads into the bright future ahead of her she says she “will always be proud to call Parker County home.” Continued on page 90 “I’ve had teachers who are clearly passionate about their field and make a real effort to teach their students.” PTK President Current Students: open | New and Transfer Students: May 23 www.wc.edu | 817-594-5471 Registration for Summer & Fall 2017 has begun!
