PS: Steely Blue, by Dennis Smith.
PCT: What do you do to decompress?
PS: A day out on my boat, good food,
good friends and when I lay my head
down to sleep I thank our Lord.
PCT: What is something people don’t
know about you?
PS: I’m pretty much an open book,
what you see is what you get. I often
wonder to myself could I have done
more to help someone out.
PCT: What would you most like to be
remembered for?
PS: There’s a lot of things I hope
people remember me for, both good
and bad but the most important is,
when I made a promise I would keep
it.
PCT: If you could have lunch with
any one, either living or dead from
history, who would it be?
PS: President Ronald Reagan,
because his character was of courage
and heart to see things through no
matter the obstacle.

you would give?
PS: Live by the Cowboy Code: Live
each day with courage. Take pride in
your work. Always finish what you
start. Know where to draw the line.

Do what has to be done. Be tough,
but be fair. PCT: What is something people don’t
know about you?
GQ: In my formative years I grew up
farming and ranching. I’m thankful to
have experienced it.
PCT: What is the most interesting
thing you have ever done in your
life?
PS: Over the years I’ve done a lot of
cool things in my life, but being at
my best friend’s bedside, holding his
hand when he passed away would
probably be the coolest thing I’ve
ever done. I was there for him like he
had always been there for me.

PCT: What is your definition of the
best day ever?
PS: When I can go home and rest at
night knowing that I put forth my best
effort to help my customers and other
PCT: If you could choose to have
lunch with anyone living or dead
from history, who would it be?
GQ: I would say Thomas Jefferson,
because of his insight into our consti-
tution and because of his diverse
interests.
PCT: If you had to do another job
other than what you’re doing, what
would you choose?
GQ: I could teach evidence in law
school, or I could go into ranching,
or maybe I’d just cook hamburgers
for people.
PCT: What is your greatest impact to
Parker County?
GQ: I’d have to say being a fine
example of how to live for everyone,
that together with my great humil-
ity. But, seriously, by keeping social
order I implement our constitutional
system.
PCT: If you had to do another job
than what you’re doing, what would
you do?
PS: That’s a hard one because I love
what I do and that’s helping people.
I guess I would stay in the customer
service industry providing comfort
and a solution to those in need.
PCT: What is your impact to Parker
County?
PS: When I introduce myself to my
customers, I give them my name
and tell them I’m from Weatherford
(Parker County). I assure them that I
will fix their problem and continue
excellent customer service.
PCT: For what would you most like
to be remembered?
GQ: As a person who performed his
job responsibly and was a steadfast
friend.
PCT: What is your definition of the
best day ever?
GQ: It’s 75 degrees, low humidity,
bright sunshine, being outdoors while
enjoying excellent health.
PCT: How did you get into your
occupation?
GQ: I ran for the job and I was elect-
ed. Before that, I’d been in privat e
practice for 13 years. I took office on
Jan. 1, 1995.
PCT: What is your favorite novel?
GQ: I’ve always enjoyed anything by
Charles Dickens.
PCT: What do you do to decompress?
GQ: Actually, I piddle around the

Remember that power is to be used
and not abused. Remember that you
are dealing with real people.
PCT: What is the coolest thing you
have ever done in your life?
GQ: Raising a son all on my own.
The men who go for child custody
and who go to a great extent to get it,
usually, those guys are great candi-
