When we think about great lines from movies or from television series , it ’ s apparent how much of an impact these medians have on society and on our lives . They ’ ve become part of our daily vocabulary , we quote from them and some fit so well that they become a functional part of our descriptions of life events .

For instance , how many of you quote almost daily from Seinfeld ?
“ No soup for you ,” “ You double dipped , you dipped , took a bite and then - You dipped again !” … “ He ’ s a re-gifter .” Sometimes , when we really like a movie , we remember some of the great lines that occurred in that movie . Here ’ s a few of my favorites , and maybe this will start you all thinking about your personal favorites .
This is from a basketball coach to one of his players having problems – “ Scott here are three things I live by :
# 1 - Never get less than 12 hours of sleep . # 2 - Never play cards with a guy with the same first name as city . # 3 - Never date a girl with a tattoo of a dagger on her body .” “ Toto , I have a feeling we ’ re not in Kansas anymore .” “ I ’ ll have what she ’ s having .” “ You ’ re gonna need a bigger boat .” “ You ’ ve got to ask yourself one question : ‘ Do I feel lucky ?’ Well , do ya punk ?” “ Just when I thought I was out , they pull me back in .”
From Lonesome Dove , “ I hate rude behavior in a man . I won ’ t tolerate it .”
“ Go sell crazy somewhere else , we ’ re all stocked up here .” And my personal favorites , from The Godfather - “ Leave the gun , take the cannoli .” “ Sonny ’ s thinkin ’ about going to the mattresses already .” And then there ’ s , “ I ’ m gonna make him an offer he can ’ t refuse .”
“ Fasten your seatbelts . It ’ s going to be a bumpy night .”
“ What we ’ ve got here is failure to communicate .”
Who hasn ’ t , at some point , told their kids , “ Go ahead , make my day ?” Just for the fun of it , go a day and only communicate with people through movie or television lines . I guarantee they will soon leave you alone .
I have a theory that there is no situation that you can ’ t find a great Hollywood quote that applies . Example , one of my pet peeves - As soon as our weather changes - My tire monitors go crazy !
Apropos quote : ” Forget about it Jake , it ’ s Chinatown .” Here ’ s another example . One of my favorite things to do is to travel around the state to experience
BROWN

“ Play it again , Sam ” and other great movie lines that changed the world

Texas History . I made a trip recently to Fort Belknap and was fascinated with the plethora of history to be found there .
In 1866 , Charlie Goodnight and Oliver Loving pioneered a route of 500 miles from Fort Belknap to Fort Sumner , New Mexico . It became known as the Goodnight-Loving Trail .
Goodnight was also sworn in as a Texas Ranger there . In the corral area behind the Fort is where Goodnight kept his cattle waiting to set off on the next drive .
“ Head ‘ em up … move ‘ em out , Rawhide .” Fort Belknap is located near the town of Newcastle , in Young County . It ’ s the northernmost fort in a line from the Rio Grande to the Red River . If you ’ re interested in Texas history , this is a great place to visit .
Following the trail of some of the great characters in history is a simple pleasure . In the words of Gus McCrae from Lonesome Dove , “ If you want one thing too much it ’ s likely to be a disappointment . The healthy way is to learn to like the everyday things , like soft beds and buttermilk — and feisty gentlemen .”
I ’ m headed to Fort Richardson next .
Stay tuned . Until next time , “ Hasta la vista , baby .”
