a hospital, but ended up working in
Medical Records and becoming a
transcriptionist. I did go on to become
a medical assistant. I am pleased to
be where I am today, though.
Q: Who in your life has influenced
you the most? How?
A: My first boss. I was 17 years old
and she hired me to work in Medical
Records as a Medical Transcriptionist
because I had just finished Secretary
Clerical School. She lied to the hospi-
tal about my age as you had to be 18
to get hired. She was a mother figure
to me. For the next seven years, she
took on the role of mothering me. She
is a beautiful person inside and out. I
am still in touch with her to this day.
I just found out last week she moved
to Arlington, Texas, to be with her
son. We will be meeting up with each
other very soon.
Q: What would you most like to be
remembered for?
A: When I leave this phase of my life
I would like for people to smile and
say, “She will be missed.” I want to
be remembered as being a person
who made an impact on people’s
lives and for always respecting everyone. I want to make an impact on
people’s hearts. I don’t want to leave
and my name just be gone. I value
my compassion that I have for people
and hope that others will notice that
as well. Although I don’t plan on
leaving for a while!
