Brookes Worthington —
Commercial Lender at Spirit
of Texas Bank
Part of the well-known Worthington family,
Brookes comes from a banking heritage that
dates back to 1886 with six generations of Fant
and Worthington members in Weatherford. His
personal banking career is beginning 41 years
this year. Most people don’t know that Brookes
is a member of the 1974 Hall of Honor Football
Team from Baylor University. His definition
of the best day? “Spend it with my fantastic
family, being my parents, my children and their
spouses, my three granddaughters and soon, a
grandson.” His best piece of advice came from
his father: “Always to tell the truth because your
word is your reputation.” He would like to be
remembered for being “an honest, caring bank-
er like my dad taught me and being Brooklyn
and Briley’s dad, because they are the best chil-
dren a father could ever hope for.”
Doug Dowd — Commercial Loan
Officer for Plains Capital Bank in
Weatherford
28
Doug has been with the bank for almost five years and in the
industry for 12 years. He enjoys this profession because of the
customers he has had the privilege of building relationships with
every day. When he’s not working, he’s a member of North Side
Baptist Church where he serves in the high school ministry and
is a member of the deacon body. He is active in the community
as president elect for the WISD Education Foundation, current
president of Weatherford Noon Lions Club, board member
for junior league basketball, and a board member at Manna
Storehouse. “Volunteering in this community is something I love
to do. Weatherford is a great place to live and it has always been
a blessing to serve,” he said. Most people don’t know that his
great-great-great-grandfather was David Switzer, the first presi-
dent of Weatherford College. His best piece of advice? “Work
hard, don’t sweat the small stuff, and show kindness as much as
possible.” He would like to be remembered as a good husband,
father and friend, but above all, a servant of Jesus Christ.
