John Patterson —
Lender and Vice President at
First National Bank
John has been with the bank for 15 years, starting after
graduating from Tarleton State in 2004. John says it
was his brother-in-law who brought him in to meet
Lin Bearden and changed his life. Most people don’t
know that John has true passion and love for special
needs children. “This began about 20 years ago when
I met my now-wife,” he explained. “Her two nieces
have special needs and truly are the most precious
girls. I believe they are gifts from God that are here to
bless us every day.” The love for special needs grew
when John and his family joined Greenwood Baptist
Church, whose pastor started the Exceptional Rodeo
and participates in Tim Tebow’s “Night to Shine”
prom. He would most like to be remembered as a
fun, family oriented guy that did everything he could
to help you out. “I hope my family remembers me for
always loving them. I want my kids to remember me
as the dad who loved them. I want my wife, Chelsey,
to remember me as the man who always loved her,
even if I was in one of my moods.”
Norma Plowman —
Owner of Galbreaith Pickard
Funeral Chapel
26
Norma has owned the funeral home since 1975 and
continues to work there because she enjoys serving
people during such a difficult time. Most people will
find it hard to believe that at 84 years young she has
never put gas in a vehicle, and that she still works
30-plus hours a week, and “I don’t like to be late,
early is on time.” Her definition of a best day would
be to wake up, work, be around family, read a good
book, and have no pain in her achy joints. Her best
piece of advice? “Take care of your personal financ-
es.” Norma would like to be remembered for being
someone who is honest, trustworthy, and compassion-
ate and that she “continued the legacy my husband,
JV Plowman, has left with our business of serving the
community.”
